The 2021 Business Excellence Awards for Innovation, Sustainability, Industrial Development and Community Support were given to several deserving companies at last year’s Expo. Mayor Johnson was joined by Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee for the awards presentation. Read more about the 2021 Business Excellence Award winners below.
The award for Excellence in Sustainability was presented to Technical Machinery Solutions (TMS) located at 855 Morse Avenue. TMS designed and manufactures a fully biodegradable mailing envelope used exclusively by Amazon.
The Excellence in Innovation award was presented to FPE Automation, located at 110 Gordon Street. FPE provides solutions that allow manufacturers to increase production and profitability.
Their Elk Grove training facility trains employees and customers to effectively work with and understand robotic technology.
The Industrial Development of the Year Award was presented to Duke Realty. Duke demolished an abandoned industrial building at 901 Chase Avenue and built in tits place a start-of-the-art Class A 154,000 square foot building. As of 2021 the building is fully leased.
The Excellence in Community Support was awarded to multiple recipients for their support shown during the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. Many of these companies donated supplies to first responders, retooled to create PPE products, and donated to social service agencies to help support people who suffered economically and emotionally.
